Dallas, Tx - On Tuesday night the Lady Crusaders (1-4, 0-0) will open the home portion of their 2018 schedule with a regional contest vs Randall University (6-9, 0-0) at 6:00 pm. This will be the first of two regular season matches between the two schools and for each team the first in region contest of the year. The Lady Crusaders come into the match after a 1-4 start to the season with the lone victory coming over Texas College (NAIA). While the win/loss totals may not be where the team wants it to be the coaching staff has seen clear growth from the team.
"We've played well in certain sets and we've played poorly in some sets, but without a doubt we've improved from our first matches at the Vernon College Classic. All of our girls have shown improvement and that is really all we can ask for as coaches. Our hope is that we continue to imporve and that we're playing our best ball at the end of the season going into the region tournament," said Head Coach Tyese Litte.
The coaching staff should know a lot more about their team tomorrow after their match with Randall University. Over the last several seasons Randall has finished in the top half of the region standings and always plays hard and competes well. In their one match last season the Saints defeated DCC 3-0 in Dallas in dominating fashion winning 25-12, 25-15, 25-10. The Lady Crusaders were led by Kianna Hamilton with 7 kills.
Over the first five matches of the season the team has been led by junior Cecilia DeLarosa with 35 total kills, sophomore Kelsie Richmond with 33 assists and freshman Braylinn Esquivel who has anchored the back line with 72 digs. While those three ladies have consistently stood out each player has worked hard to accomplish what they've been asked. The Lady Crusaders and Randall Saints will play tomorrow, 9/18/2018 in Dallas, Tx. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
