Dallas, Tx - The region seeds are starting to take shape for the Lady Crusaders after region victories over Kansas Christian College and Barclay College last weekend in Haviland, KS. With the last two victories the team has now won five out of its last seven matches including moving to 3-2 in regional play. On Fridy the Lady Crusaders were able knock off the Lady Falcons from Kansas Christian College in three sets (25-6, 25-6, 25-15) earning 25 total kills in the victory. Leading the way for the Lady Crusaders was freshman Lauren Baker who tallied nine kills while junior Naomi Baloni kept her teammates involved with 6 assists. In the second match of the weekend the Lady Crusaders played against the host school, Barclay College, in a 5 set thriller. The match was back and forth as the Bears from Barclay jumped out to a 2 sets to 1 lead heading into the fourth set. With a loss on the line the ladies rallied to take both the fourth and fifth sets and win the match 3-2.
"We need to be more consistent in our play," stated Coach Tyese Little, "I believe that these two wins are good for us, but also show that we can still get better. Hats off to both KCC and Barclay. Both teams played their games and caused us problems."
With the two victories the women's volleyball team now sits at 6-8 and 3-2 in region play this season. Looking forward the Lady Crusaders host Huston-Tillotson on Wednesday before heading to Moore, Ok this weeknd for regional matches with NCCAA Top 10 ranked Randall University and Manhattan Christian College. Randall took the match in Dallas earlier in the season 3-1. The Lady Crusaders have yet to play Manhattan Christian College this season.
